Looking back through modern history, all great companies seem to have one thing in common: they are set out with something big to prove to the world. At Insanity Lab Racing, our humble beginnings started with a cross country road trip to purchase the GT40 MKII splash mold body with one purpose: to recreate the most iconic American racecar as an American made product that competes with modern supercars.
Flying from Washington state to Connecticut felt like waiting for Christmas morning as a child, except a three thousand mile return trip was awaiting. Taking eight hour shifts driving and sleeping in the SUV at rest stops, we made it back to the shop in two and a half days without a popped tire or other complication. Now the real work could begin!
Hundreds of hours of CAD design and what felt like thousands of hours of sanding later, we finally begin to see the fruits of our hard labor — the Carbon40™ was created.
